How to draw a tombstone

How To Draw A Tombstone. Something is disturbing about walking through a cemetery and seeing rows of headstones. These small stone monuments commemorate a person’s life and can be of different sizes and styles. They appear in scary movies and books and are typical Halloween decorations. For this reason, learning to draw a tombstone can be a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit!

This is the guide to follow if this is what you wish to do, so be sure to read through to the end of this guide if that sounds like you! Our step-by-step guide on drawing a tombstone will show you how to have a great time while removing a spooky monument! You can draw many more characters like flying bird drawing easy, Anubis drawing, cat drawing, cobra drawing, blueberry drawing, coconut drawing and many more drawing for kids.

Step 1:

Tombstones will often have a particular style or shape in their structure, and we will replicate a classic example in this guide on drawing a monument. To start this process, we’ll start at the top of the tombstone. When drawing this tombstone, remember that it is a thick slab of stone, which should be kept in mind when drawing the depth of the monument. With that in mind, we’ll use a combination of straight and curved lines to create the shape of the top of the headstone. The top will be more comprehensive and thinner with each body layer. Then, once you’ve drawn that outline, you can remove that depth we talked about by extending some curved lines “back” from the headstone.

Step 2:

In this next step, we will add detail and structure to your tombstone drawing. First, we’ll remove a small ridge near the top of the monument. This ridge will go directly below where you stopped drawing in the last step. You can remove it by adding thin rectangular shapes to the corners we show in the reference image. Once this crest is drawn, we’ll draw another line inside the outline for the top tip of the tombstone, as shown in the reference image. Finally, we’ll draw straight lines from the top of the headstone to create the sides. These lines would be best drawn freehand, as we want them to look like rough stones.

Step 3:

This picture is starting to take shape now! In this third step of our guide on drawing a tombstone, we will remove the base. First, extend the lines you drew for the sides of the headstone a bit further. Then, once you’ve done that, you can use more straight lines to create the monument’s base. While doing this, try copying the line angles we used in our reference image. Then you are ready to add decorative elements in the next step!

Step 4:

Now that you have the general outline of your headstone design, we can start adding finer details at this stage. First, we’ll draw many rounded shapes near the base of the tombstone to create clumps of dirt and rock. It wouldn’t be a spooky tombstone without a RIP, so we’ll draw it on the face of the monument now. The RIP will be drawn in the clear, simple text that you can copy from the reference image. You can also use a different font or style or delete a name or other textual information. An ornate cross will then be drawn near the top of the headstone. You might end up drawing big cracks in the monument to make it look old and worn. In the next step, you’ll add some final details and elements to finish it all!

Step 5:

Before giving color to this image, we first have some details and finishing touches to add to this step of our guide on how to draw a tombstone. The headstone already looks quite old and weathered, but with these final details, we’re going to make it look better! We counted a lot of scratches, chips, and cracks to make it look even older. You can add more or less of these details depending on how old you want them to be. You can draw something like a ghost or a skeleton for an extra touch if you want a Halloween to feel to this image.

Step 6:

T headstones are usually not particularly colorful because they are made of stone. In our example of this tombstone design, we used different shades of gray to create shading and weathering effects.
